goteam, is Dimitris support team. Here we have a group of Dimitris’s friends, who not only believed in his dream, but also encouraged and helped him realizing it.
Penelope Papadopoulou: The key figure. Without Popi, this journey wouldn’t have come true. She's the person who knows where Dimitris is every time of the day and stands by him in every joyful or difficult circumstance. She is the chief executive of godimitris, as Dimitris calls her. She's Dimitris’s right hand. She's an English teacher and the manager of an English learning school in Thessaloniki.
Mohammed Segient: Mohammed is Dimitris’s left hand and a true friend. He is from Iran, he has himself traveled a lot and he has lived in Greece for a period of time when he studied at the Greek University. He recently acquired his Spanish Philology Diploma from the University of Athens. He speaks perfect English and Greek, which he managed to learn during 5 months in Athens. He wanted to live in Greece, but this was not possible due to the faults of the Greek system. He chose to become a citizen of the world like Dimitris. He was in Mexico for a year and today he lives in Spain where he is working on his Master. Mohammed is translating godimitris stories in Spanish and has created the godimitris Facebook profile. My friend gomo, I thank you for everything.
Dina Michalopoulou: "When you're in the journalism business, you have the privilege to meet people of all shapes, colors and ways of thinking. Thus, I imagine, I ended up writing these lines, as a member of Dimitris support team. Many times like many of you I've dreamt to abandon everything and set off to discover the world. I never though of myself as “crazy” enough to do something like that. But I've met somebody who is. Will he make it? I'm waiting to find out, with as much curiosity as you have". Dina is a journalist and a friend of Dimitris since 2000 when they worked together for "Ethnos" newspaper. She is doing the English translation for godimitris and she supports Dimitris’s research on the countries he visits.
Dimitris Aganidis: He is a partner and a friend of Dimitris. He is also the golawyer, as he has undertaken the legal affairs of godimitris. He and Dimitris not only have the same name, but also come from the same Greek region. He joined godimitris, because he believes that this effort is worth the support of travelers and non travelers as well. His role is very essential, because Dimitris who sometimes becomes “annoying” through his stories, often needs his legal counseling. He also shares Dimitris’s will to support the Diaspora Greeks, having himself lived abroad.
Maria Tzemalidis: She has a German Philology degree and she teaches German. She has undertaken the translation of godimitris to German. She also speaks English, Dutch, and Italian. She is excited with her uncle Dimitris’s journey, because her dream is to travel around Europe - and then around the world - on a motorbike. These plans were recently postponed, due to love and the arrival of her baby son.
Chris Venetidis: Chris, Dimitris’s friend for over twenty years, is the man who files the photos, the reports and anything else Dimitris sends from his journey. He is Popis right hand in Thessaloniki (in Northern Greece), where the heart of operation godimitris lies. He studies management at the Open University and he is very active in organizing cultural events.
Mateusz Grzesiak: Mateusz studied law, philosophy and management in Poland and in Germany. He has made countless journeys, most of them alone. From Turkey, for example, he travelled on foot up to the Afghan boarders with Pakistan. Today, he teaches and gives seminars in Poland and other countries about how something impossible can become true. You can visit his site www.mateuszgrzesiak.pl. He is one of Dimitris’s good friends. He is the emergency man of goteam. No matter where Dimitris may be and need the help of a friend, Mat will be at his side within hours. Something like a gosuperman!
At this point I would like to thank all my friends who stood by me during all those hard times I went through preparing the journey. John Siopidis, one of my best friends, who was like a brother to me, Phoebe and Manos I thank you from my heart. Without you, godimitris wouldn’t exist today.
